Her Excellency, Hajiya Mariya Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is the founder of MTDI. She regulates and approves MTDI’s framework, strategies, and helps set the overall direction of the organization. Her Excellency, Hajiya Mariya Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a child of the great and historic town of Sanyinna of Tambuwal local government Area of Sokoto state, was born on the 27thof April 1978. She attended Sanyinna Model Primary School and Unity Girl’s Secondary School Illela from 1988-1993 where she obtained her secondary school leaving certificate. Upon successful completion, she further went to the Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto from 1993-1995 where she obtained a diploma in law. Her Excellency, during her endeavors as the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (2011-2015) has gone through series of strenuous tasks in organizing programmes such as; Women and Youth empowerment/ development programmes Educational and Leadership programmes Health awareness programmes Furthermore, she has gone a long way in promoting peace and mutual understanding amongst members of the society through organizing programmes that brings the society together. These programmes include; feeding during Ramadan, debates and quiz competition amongst students and community meetings with stakeholders. As the wife of the Sokoto state governor, she has also organized, to promote child development through provision of facilities necessary for child development such as, entertainments, school visits, incentives, competitions in schools, cultural celebrations, religious celebrations, arts and tourism. The founder has a strong vision for promoting social welfare in other to have a productive and peaceful society. Through MTDI, she is already setting a platform where indigenes of Sokoto and indigenes of other states in need can access quality and free education through sponsorship, health care and other basic amenities.
The young lawyer, Najib Waziri is the foundation’s Executive Director. Najib graduated from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom. At the university, his humane character and open door policy earned him so many leadership positions, including being elected as the Vice President of the Nigerian Students Society of the University and other high-ranking positions in the University. He was recently the Nigerian representative at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference in March 2017. Najib brings to the board his vast experience in decision-making, research and strategy. He liaise with the Deputy ED’s in designing the foundation’s quarterly road map which is used to implement projects and philanthropic activities. In addition, he serves as the organization’s legal adviser who ensures all decisions and projects due for implementation by the foundation have a legal backing.
Zainab, as the Project Coordinator for Education, is responsible for developing the foundations awareness on the importance of girl child education campaign; driving the foundations educational initiatives such as scholarships and financial grants to students. She works with various schools in drafting their curriculums to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. As Social Mobilizer, Zainab is responsible for raising awareness that community members themselves can move each community out of poverty, and to show them ways they can do so for themselves. she is responsible for encouraging full participation by all community members with special attention to those who are usually forgotten, marginalized and overlooked in community decision making. To assist the community in obtaining information and knowledge that may be available through governmental and non-governmental agencies, through extension and outreach programmes. To assist community members to identify needs and to generate solutions, identifying priority issues and to analyze their problems.
Nafisa Abubakar is the Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation. She serves as the primary strategic advisor to the foundation’s Executive Director, helping develop and drive implementation of the foundation’s mission, key activities, and long-range plans focused on organizational effectiveness and strategic impact. In the absence of the Executive Director, she oversees the foundation’s affairs. Nafisa Zaki has a strong zeal and passion to contribute to the progress of the society and development of MTDI. She has brought to MTDI her foresight and vast experience which was helpful in the coordination of previous MTDI programs and projects. At her best, Nafisa is capable of working as an all-rounder, with a strong passion of delivering in every task given.

Ubaida Bello is the organization’s secretary and also leads the project coordination team that is responsible for all documentations, preparation of project proposals, timeframes, schedules and budget. She is also responsible for monitoring and tracking the progress of projects as well as exploring new paths to align with MTDI aims. Ubaida Bello hails from the Northern region of Sokoto State. Her special abilities of persuasion, lobbying, advocacy, and resource mobilization among others, have allowed her to excel in any given task. She has a view of striving morally and intellectually, in order to achieve excellent desired and professional aims and objectives at all times, in all positions, circumstances and contributions to services of humanity. She has previously worked with USIAD and other International Donors therefore she brings to the table vast experience.
Aisha Abubakar, a trained biologist turned banking expert is the chief financial officer of the organization. Aisha has a postgraduate diploma in Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She has special skills in banking, marketing, and interpersonal skills. She served in WEMA Bank as Branch Service Head from 2004 – 2006. She is ready and willing to sacrifice her efforts to the services of humanity.
Abdul Qahar Abdullahi is the Communications and Media Manager of the foundation. He is a Law graduate and happens to bea social media expert with a diploma in media studies from Allison Institute in Ireland. He is the twitter handler of the Sokoto Facts account that provides latest happenings in Sokoto State. He has vast experience in project management and social mobilization with Eclipse International Consultants. He was worked with numerous NGOs including UNICEF and the WHO. He is responsible for managing, developing and driving MTDI’s communications and activities. He is also responsible formaximizing awareness of MTDI’s projects using multiple media channels (press, TV, radio, social media).
Fatima Muhammad is the Director Women & Youths Affairs. She has a good communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team and her willingness to be adaptable, to accept changes and try new things has made her soar in her field. Her duties include; executing creative collaborative programs pertaining to Women& Youths, attending and presenting events orprograms that are relevant to Women& Youths, working closely with relevant administrators, directors and staff, as well as attending staff meetings of Women & Youths Affairs. She is overall responsible for drafting the foundations initiatives and programs for Women and Youth Empowerments. She hails from the Northern region of Sokoto State. She started out as a primary school teacher at Waziri Model in Tambuwal Local Government, then went on to become the Women Co-coordinator of Sokoto North L.G.E.A. She is currently the Principle Assistant Information Officer of Sokoto North Local Government Area. Her membership of the National Association of Women Journalists combined with her Diploma in English-Hausa Translation has allowed her to promote and advance the concerns of women and gender issues, to assist women in realizing their full potential through the attainment of gender equity and equality, as well as promoting the development of gender-sensitive sectoral policies and procedures. She also serves as a translator between the Hausa speaking masses and non-Hausa speaking individuals and officials.
Kabiru Aliyu is a graduate of English. He has worked with various NGOs such as: UNICEF, USAID and is a member of several Steering Committees. He currently serves on numerous boards both at the state, national and international level. His working experience along with the workshops and seminars attended have allowed him to excel as the initiative’s technical adviser. He provides technical leadership in the design, development, planning, implementation and capacity building of multiple technical components of the initiative. He also contributes to the development of program strategies, work plans, and budgets. In addition to that he also oversees the daily management and supervision of the operational activity, including analyzing operational statistics and reporting.
