Her stand is backed by research and studies conducted by global bodies such as United Nations (UN) and UNICEF.

- Education -

Mariya Tambuwal Development Initiative (MTDI) has been supportive towards the enrolment of girl child into various schools across the State. In achieving this, MTDI has partnered with the State and Local Governments, Ministries and agencies, corporate entities and stakeholders to provide and source out scholarship opportunities for female pupils and within the state. The beneficiaries of the scheme will have a unique name and code of MTDI Scholar. MTDI has set a target to provide “Education/material kits’’ such as textbooks, writing equipment, and school shoes to MTDI scholars at the beginning of each academic year.

- Health -

The MTDI has been creating regular awareness and support for pregnant women by ensuring that they visit the health centers for regular antenatal care during pregnancy. In addition, the expecting mothers are enlightened on the risk of poor antenatal care such as complications before and after birth. MTDI has also been supportive in the provision of complimentary customized “Antenatal Kits’’ for pregnant women. MTDI has been paying medical bills to some financially disadvantaged patients within the state. Over the years MTDIhas been able to create awareness on VVF, cervical/breast cancer, nutrition, breastfeeding options, HIV/AIDs, etc. MTDI has also been educating the rural women on the need for Hygiene, safe drinking water, malaria prevention, immunization exercises, sanitation, Healthcare awareness on diseases and meningitis.

- System Strengthening/Awareness Campaign -

The key strategy to any successful social programme is awareness. In MTDI, we are also creating awareness through both print and electronic media. Our awareness strategies includes stage drama, short film clip and symposia in educating the rural women on the need for Hygiene, safe drinking water, malaria prevention, immunization exercises, sanitation, and Healthcare awareness. MTDI achieves this through the sponsorship of radio and TV shows in the state that will build and develop the girl child, and also help minimize societal problems. Billboards and electronic posters will also be hoisted at schools, commercial places, and public arenas to encourage the community to support and promote the foundation’s goal. A day is dedicated as ‘Career Day’ where prominent women in the society are invited to address women and children on issues important to the society. These issues when tackled will help individuals in understanding the nature of every problem related to them and how it can be minimized or solved.

- Women and Youth Empowerment -

Mariya Tambuwal Development Initiative (MTDI) has been involved in regular interactions with Parents and the community leaders to ensure that the pupils don’t drop out of School. The society does play an important role in shaping a child’s future, educating the girls should not just involve the students alone but it should include their immediate families and the communities that they are part of. Therefore, counseling and sensitizing the community on gender issues will form an important part of the foundation’s activities. MTDI has gone far already in empowering women (especially widows) through the provision of training and skills acquisition in Tailoring, Cloth Dyeing, Weaving, Secretariat Studies, ICT, Knitting, Pepper and Corn Grinding and other small scale activities that will make them self-reliant and support their families.

- Research and Development -

MTDI has set up modalities in establishing a unit that will be dedicated to identifying the challenges being faced by women and children in the state and how to reduce or eliminate them. The research unit comprises of professionals, doctors and nurses, midwiferies, academicians, and village representatives. Their schedule is to summarize the continuous problems relating to Health care faced by women and children in other to come up with a solution that will bring an end to such issues.
